About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, Shodai Teriyaki serves up a delectable fusion of Asian flavors that charm locals and visitors alike. This family-owned gem specializes in Asian fusion cuisine with a strong emphasis on Chinese and Japanese influences, delivering a diverse menu that spans from hearty Chinese woks to comforting bento boxes and crave-worthy sushi rolls.

Stepping inside Shodai Teriyaki, you are greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like an authentic neighborhood hideaway. Its "old-school" aesthetic, complete with a charming piano in the corner, adds a nostalgic and cozy touch that complements the friendly service perfectly. The kitchen works at an impressive speed, ensuring your meal arrives fresh and piping hot, perfect for those in search of a quick bite without sacrificing flavor or quality.

The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering dishes crafted with care and attention to balance. For lovers of bold, savory flavors, the Mongolian Beef is a standout—tender strips of beef bathed in a spicy, well-seasoned sauce that delivers a satisfying kick without overwhelming the palate. Fans of classic Chinese comfort will appreciate the Garlic Chicken served with rice, as well as the spicy thrill of General Tso’s Chicken and the nutty crunch of Cashew Chicken, each priced at a very reasonable $18.99.

Sushi enthusiasts will find delight in the crisp, fresh California Roll, which offers a light and refreshing contrast to the rich, saucy entrees. The Free Vegetable Soup is a gentle, soothing addition—simple but comforting, making it a perfect starter to balance the depth of the main courses.

For those seeking a satisfying and beautifully composed meal, the bento boxes are a real treat. With options like the Beef Bento and Chicken Katsu Bento, each priced at $30.99, diners get a well-rounded plate that combines protein, steamed rice, and vibrant sides—ideal for a more substantial lunch or dinner.

What truly sets Shodai Teriyaki apart is its heartfelt, family-owned spirit. Customers rave about the quick service and genuine warmth from the staff, who add a personal touch to each visit. While some reviews note areas for small improvements—like adjusting the slaw’s salad dressing or adding a bit more char to the chicken—the overall experience remains delightfully satisfying. The generous portions and carefully balanced sauces imbue every dish with layers of satisfying taste and texture.

Whether you're grabbing a fast lunch, ordering meal delivery, or looking for a casual spot to enjoy authentic Asian fusion flavors, Shodai Teriyaki offers an inviting blend of speed, taste, and local charm. Give their spicy chicken teriyaki or the savory Mongolian beef a try, and you’ll quickly understand why regulars keep coming back for more.

For a glimpse of Seattle’s rich culinary scene with a family-friendly vibe, Shodai Teriyaki delivers an experience that satisfies both the appetite and the soul.

Family-owned local spot! Food comes out insanely fast, the shop aunties are adorable. Spicy chicken teriyaki is delicious (one order enough to feed me and my boyfriend), plenty of sauce, just enough sweetness of the salad dressing, rice was cooked perfectly, will come back again!

Love the old school look of this place and the piano inside. The teriyaki comes with a cabbage slaw that's tasty but overdressed (ask for light dressing). Juicy dumplings and good chicken that could use a little more char but tastes nice and fresh.

Wonderful, family owned hole-in-the-wall. You've been sleeping on this place if you keep passing by. We had the Mongolian Beef and egg soup. Mongolian beef is spicy, but most people should be able to handle it. The egg soup is simple and comforting. Please give them a try!

Chicken was overcooked and oversauced. Slaw salad also too much sauce, also not tangy just sweet mayo (personally not my thing). It definitely wasn’t bad, but could be so much better. I want you guys to step it up. Take some pride in it. And play some music it was deathly silent. 4 stars is being generous fyi but I don’t want to be mean.

Have tried Shodai twice via delivery apps and each time has been solid. Items are well packaged, quick service, and tasty food. The options are pretty varied and food well portioned. Would order again.
